Yes, I am a Mopar fan. Yes, I always loved the early 70’s shaker scoop on the ‘Cuda’s and Challengers. How could you not?

And yes the original one was functional. So I assumed the new one was. I didn’t rush out and buy one, as I have other car stuff going on. But the thought of picking up a used one some day was certainly something I’d consider. So I never looked at it that closely, until I happened upon this a few minutes ago.

I am crushed.

Update:

Okay, so its sort of functional. All kinds of articles are calling it functional. But there’s not too much difference from the standard air box intake set up to the Shaker air box intake. I’ll call it 20% function, 80% hood art.

Of course I like the art, but not just for the sake of art. I’m no longer crushed, let’s just say on the fence.

I thought there was supposed to be a feed pipe from the shaker scoop to the air filter box, to feed fresh air at speed... Isn’t that the black pipe above the left side cylinder head, between that and the coolant reservoir?

Of course the air filter and air flow and temperature sensors are still mounted in the air box where they usually are. They wouldn’t fit in the shaker scoop above the engine, and the air-filter isn’t around the carburetor on top of the engine anymore.

I thought that the skaker was just a remote fresh air intake on top of the engine, through the hood, to look all nostalgic. That doesn’t mean it can’t feed fresh air to the air box.

I looked at one at a car show over the summer and its functional, it just adds fresh air to the intake but not completely replacing the stock air box

Meh. The turn signals on my BMW aren’t used but they’re still there.

I kid i kid.

How cool would a shaker Charger be? Super cool

I found an aftermarket one from AFR that is 100% functionall and dropped it in my 09. Looks pretty good and is the only intake.
